Swara Bhasker Slams Trolls Over Postpartum Weight Gain by Wearing a 'Moti' Blouse
Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker, who faced relentless online trolling and body-shaming over her weight gain following childbirth, responded boldly to critics through her outfit at a recent public appearance.
Attending the premiere of Rise and Fall Season 2 in a purple saree, Bhasker drew significant attention with her blouse, which had the word ‘Moti’ (meaning fat woman) prominently embroidered on it. The statement attire was widely praised across social media as a direct rebuttal to those who mocked her changing body.
Enduring Three Years of Trolling
Addressing the criticism she received over the last three years, Bhasker stated:
"My daughter is three years old now. For three years, strangers on social media have trolled me, calling me 'fat,' 'buffalo,' 'cow,' 'hippo,' and 'elephant.' I decided to embrace it and say, yes, I have become all of that. I now accept and own all of your terminologies."
Challenging Postpartum Body-Shaming
The issue of post-pregnancy scrutiny is widespread among women and celebrities alike. Recently, actor Katrina Kaif was also subjected to critical online remarks regarding her appearance during a festive event.
Advocates and netizens highlighted that women undergo substantial hormonal and physical changes during and after pregnancy, coupled with the emotional and physical demands of motherhood. Bhasker’s decision to reclaim the derogatory label was widely welcomed as an empowering move, encouraging women to embrace their bodies and resist unrealistic postpartum expectations.
