Belthangady: Bike Theft Attempt and Counter Complaint, Two Cases Registered

Venoor police have registered two separate cases following an incident reported in the early hours of January 20 in Marodi village, Belthangady taluk.

According to police records, the incident occurred between 2:10 am and 2:30 am on January 20, 2026, in Marodi village. Two FIRs have been registered at Venoor Police Station in connection with the incident.
Alleged Bike Theft Attempt
In the first complaint, Deviprasad (22), a resident of Marodi village, alleged that Moyideen Naseer and Abdul Samad attempted to steal his motorcycle parked near his house.
When he tried to stop them, they allegedly assaulted him and attempted to flee with the bike. Based on this complaint, Crime No. 02/2026 was registered under Sections 303(2) and 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Counter Complaint Alleging Assault
In a counter complaint, Abdul Samad (29) of Bengre, Kulur, Mangaluru, alleged that a group of approximately 25–30 people gathered at the spot and assaulted him and another person.
The complainant alleged verbal abuse, physical assault, unlawful restraint, and threats. Based on this statement, Crime No. 03/2026 was registered under relevant sections of the BNS, 2023.
