Mangaluru: The Kannada film ‘Karikaada’ will be released across Karnataka in 100 theatres on February 6, lead actor Kaada Nataraj announced at a press conference here on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he said, “I have played the lead role in this film, while Neeksha Shetty, who is known for her work in Tulu cinema, has acted as the female lead. The film also features Yash Shetty, Raju Belawadi, late Rakesh Poojary, Chandraprabha and others in important roles.”
He further informed that the shooting of the film was conducted in Kalasa, Kudremukh, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya, Mysuru and Channapattana. “In the title, ‘Kari’ means elephant and ‘Kaada’ is the name of the protagonist,” he explained.
Producer Deepthi Damodar said, “Everyone has worked very hard for this film. We are eagerly waiting to watch it with the audience. I request everyone to watch the film and encourage us.”
Director K. Venkatesh, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues, said, “The film has a total of seven songs, out of which I have written six. All the songs have come out well. The film was shot over 60 days. It has content that will appeal to all sections of the audience, and I am confident people will like it.”
Actress Neeksha Shetty said, “This is my first Kannada film. I am even more happy that the first show is being held in Mangaluru. I am confident that this film will give a good break to my career.”
Distributor Balakrishna Shetty Puttur was also present at the press conference.
About ‘Karikaada’
‘Karikaada’ is an action-thriller film with musical, journey-based and adventurous elements. Kaada Nataraj, who works in marketing and branding in the IT sector, is making his debut as a lead actor with this film while chasing his dream of cinema.
He joined the film’s shooting on August 15, 2024, and completed the talkie portions by November 2024, working whenever he got leave from his job. Interestingly, he has also written the story of the film.
The movie is produced under the banner Riddhi Entertainments by Deepthi Damodar, wife of Kaada Nataraj, who has supported his cinematic dream. Ravi Kumar S.R. has co-produced the film.
K. Venkatesh has handled the screenplay, dialogues and direction. The music has been composed by Athishay Jain and Shashank Sheshagiri, with Shashank also providing a powerful background score. Jeevan Gowda has handled the cinematography, while Deepak C.S. has edited the film.
The film will be released not only in Kannada but also in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. It is set to hit theatres across Karnataka on February 6.
The makers have already released the title teaser, teaser and three songs, and have also launched the trailer to generate audience interest.
The film features Manju Swamy, Yash Shetty, Govinda Gowda, Divakar, Comedy Kiladi Surya, late Rakesh Poojary, Vijay Chandur, Chandraprabha, Karisubbu, Giri, Balaraj Wadi, Master Aryan and others in the cast.
