Raichur Housewife Purchases New Refrigerator Using ₹17,000 Saved from Karnataka's Gruha Lakshmi Yojana

The Gruha Lakshmi scheme, one of the five guarantee schemes of the Karnataka government, has been a boon for women's economic empowerment. Under this scheme, women who are the heads of their households receive ₹2,000 directly transferred to their bank accounts every month. This is providing women with self-reliance, and many are saving this money to purchase essential household items.

Recent Incident: Fridge Purchase in Raichur District
Hanumamma Nadulamani, a housewife from Uppaladoddi village in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district, saved the monthly ₹2,000 received under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme without spending it. Until now, she has received approximately 23 installments, accumulating around ₹17,000, and in January 2026, she purchased a new fridge.

After buying the fridge, Hanumamma said, "The Gruha Lakshmi scheme has brought a major change in the lives of women." She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.

Village leader Veeresh said, "Before criticizing, one should see the peace on people's faces." This incident shows the positive impact of the scheme and there are no allegations of misuse.
