Mangaluru: A young woman who arrived on a scooter with her friend jumped into the river from the Gurupura bridge and committed suicide in an incident that occurred on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Navya (20), who was working at a private institution in Moodbidri.
Navya had come on a scooter with her friend from Niddodi. Near the Gurupura bridge, she stopped the scooter and said she would jump into the river. Even though her friend held her hand and tried to pull her back, she pushed away and jumped into the river. The fire brigade immediately conducted a search operation and retrieved the young woman, but she had already died by then.
